Jenna + Glen Riverridge Retreat Wedding
/Name: Jenna Howley
Date of Wedding: 12 April 2027
How did you meet your partner?: I met Glen when I moved into his best friends flat 8 years ago. It was quite the party house. His visits to the flat started to be quite frequent and we soon became an item. We went onto purchasing our first home together and not long after that we were very blessed with our beautiful daughter Emily.
Tell us about the proposal: Glen woke me up excitedly early on my 29th birthday to give me my birthday present. He then went onto proudly presenting me with an ironing board!
Feeling utterly guttered about my gift, he waited 5 minutes before gifting me (with a cheeky smirk) a beautiful bracelet and necklace and told me we were going to be spending the weekend in Queenstown. Talk about spoilt. On our drive up to Queenstown he stopped at 'our spot' at the lake and proposed to me. After 'ugly' crying with a mixture of shock and happiness, I of course said yes.
Location of wedding: We were very fortunate to have our wedding held at Riverridge Retreat in the beautiful Catlins.
The venue is absolutely fantastic with accommodation onsite for our guests to stay. It was a magical couple of days spent there with a meal and drinks with guests the night before. The bridal party stayed offsite at a gorgeous cottage arranged by the venue.
Number of Guests : 100
Florist:I made the bridal parties bouquets myself, sourcing the flowers and greenery from various stores and on-line.
Me = Bridal party bouquets. Florabunda = Flowercrown. Ambrosia Designer Florist = Buttonholes & Coursages. Plaza = Flowers for tables settings.
Band: The Huhas
Catering: River Ridge Retreat
Celebrant: Barbs Frew
Being in the Catlins it had a lovely laidback vibe.
Describe your wedding day: The weather decided it wouldn't hold back and we woke up to torrential rain. So unfortunately our original plan of holding our ceremony outdoors, was out of the question.
The team at Riverridge couldn't have been more accommodating and setup their function room to cater for our ceremony and reception. As it turns out the weather didn't put a dampener on our day, it actually made it more intimate. Everyone that we love all together under the one roof, celebrating your marriage to your best friend - who could ask for better.
